School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education (HDOSE)

HDOSE is an interdisciplinary group of faculty offering degree programs that share a focus on human behavior and well-being in organizational and community contexts. With over 500 graduate students and more than 30 full- and part-time faculty, the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education (HDOSE) at the University of Florida offers master’s, specialist, and/or doctoral degrees in the program areas of Counselor Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education/Student Personnel in Higher Education, and Research and Evaluation Methodology.

Striving for excellence, our programs and faculty are recognized nationally and internationally.

  • Our Counselor Education program has been continually ranked in the top ten programs of its type in the country since rankings began, and is currently ranked the #1 program in the country. The dynamic faculty are national leaders in the field, research a broad range of mental health topics, and are recognized for their research, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Our Educational Leadership & Policy program ranks in the top 3 for the online master’s program in educational administration and among the top 17 overall programs and, with funding from sources such as the National Science Foundation, produces research that informs education policy nationwide.
  • Our Higher Education program is ranked in the top 25 nationally and includes a dynamic collection of faculty conducting cutting-edge research supported by the National Science Foundation and other external funding sources.
  • Our Research and Evaluation Methodology program has nationally and internationally recognized and award-winning faculty specializing in quantitative, qualitative, and evaluation methods with consistent funding from the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Education Sciences, and more. The Research and Evaluation Methodology program produces a high employment rate for its graduates who secure jobs in academia as well as national and international research companies and educational organizations. (Note: Currently, there are no national ranking systems for educational methodology programs.)

  • Centers: School centers include the Institute of Higher Education (IHE), the Collaborate Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPES), and the Education Policy Research Center.
  • Policy Conferences: School annually sponsors the National Education Finance Conference.
